10. Costume Warehouse Tour
Spend an hour touring the thousands of costumes and hundreds of props catalogued and stored at one of the largest costume warehouses in North America. This tour gives you a close-up look at the work of the Festival’s world-class designers, wardrobe staff and prop-makers.
11. Staging Musical Numbers with Students
How can we choreograph a musical without a choreographer? How can we help students create choreography on their own? This workshop, led by Stephen DiMenna, gives teachers practical activities and strategies for empowering students to create choreography and stage musical numbers in an organic collaborative process.
12. And Let Them Play…
“And let them that play your clowns speak no more than is set down for them…” (Hamlet, 3.2) This workshop, led by Peggy Coffey, looks at Shakespeare’s clowns, the actors in his company who played these special roles and the skills they needed for them. Put on a red nose and learn some basic clowning skills in this fun, interactive workshop. Dress comfortably.
13. Elizabethan Dance
Whether you’re in search of the perfect dance to insert into your production of Romeo and Juliet or just looking to enjoy an hour dancing, this workshop fits the bill. Festival artists teach the basics of Elizabethan dance, broken down in a way that you can take back to your classroom or school production.
14. Choreographing Combat
In similar fashion to the Elizabethan Dance workshop, this workshop teaches you safety measures and skills required to choreograph a simple fight sequence for your school production. Festival artists teach basic stage combat techniques and show you how to teach and use them with your students.
